On the practice of long-horizon observation
Some patterns only resolve at timescales longer than a planning cycle. Observing them requires a deliberate refusal of the planning cycle's rhythm.
Most institutional attention operates at the cadence of the quarter. This is a reasonable rhythm for execution and a poor one for observation. The drifts that matter most are too slow to register inside it.
Long-horizon observation is not a sophisticated technique. It is mostly the refusal to update one's frame as often as the news cycle invites. The discipline is in keeping the question open longer than it is comfortable to keep it open.
